14 Zontians gathered at the Montana Migrant Education Program offices for a productive volunteer session that made a real difference for local students.
Supporting Migrant Families
The Montana Migrant Education Program serves families whose parents work in agriculture with special agricultural visas. While parents work, their children attend local schools and need supplies to succeed.
Teamwork in Action
Our volunteers didn't provide the supplies – the program handles that – but we provided something equally valuable: efficient hands-on help. By stuffing backpacks with the provided supplies, we saved the program director hours of preparation work.
The results were impressive: 14 volunteers stuffed 320 backpacks for students K-12 in just one hour.
Making an Impact
This kind of community partnership exemplifies Zonta's mission of supporting educational opportunities. The migrant education program serves students who often face unique challenges, and ensuring they have necessary school supplies supports their academic success.
For the program director, our volunteer support means more time to focus on educational programming rather than supply logistics.
Community Service That Counts
Sometimes meaningful community service is about showing up with willing hands. This backpack-stuffing event demonstrates how a small time investment from volunteers can create significant impact for students and program staff.
Thank you to all 14 Zontians who participated. Your hour of service will impact 320 students throughout the school year.
